How Soap and the City Addressed What Wasn't Working on Their Laundromat Website

Soap and the City - Laundry service in Brooklyn and Queens - laptop mockup

We just launched a fresh new website for Soap and the City, a local pickup & delivery service in Brooklyn and Queens with personality, hustle, and a loyal customer base – but a site that wasn’t doing them justice.

Before the redesign, the website looked like something that came free with the equipment. It checked a box. It existed. But it wasn’t helping customers. Here’s how we changed that.

Problem #1: A Website That Said Nothing

The old homepage had a logo, a few tabs, and not much else. No messaging. No differentiation. No clear reason to choose Soap and the City over the place down the street.

Your website is often your first impression. And if it doesn’t say anything meaningful, most people bounce.

What we did: We built a homepage that tells a clear, confident story. What they offer. Who it’s for. Why it matters. No fluff—just the information real people are looking for.

Problem #2: Customers Didn’t Know What to Do

There were no calls to action. No “Book a pickup.” No “See our services.” Not even a clear phone number in view. When your customers are busy and on mobile, unclear navigation = lost sales.

So we simplified.

  • A sticky nav bar with easy access to pickup, contact, and hours

  • A bold hero section with a “Schedule Pickup” button front and centre

  • Service breakdowns that explain everything in plain English

We didn’t just design it to look better – we designed it to work better.

Problem #3: The Site Didn’t Reflect the Brand

Soap and the City has a loyal base and a strong local presence. But their site felt like generic – basic fonts, bland images, and no local personality.

Your brand is more than your logo. It’s how people feel when they interact with your business—online included.

We brought that out through:

  • Warm, polished copy that sounds like a real person (not corporate fluff)

  • Clean visual hierarchy and space to let the message breathe

  • Local cues and trust-builders like customer reviews, FAQs, and clear contact info

Now, the site doesn’t just reflect the brand – it reinforces it.

Final Touches That Matter

Once the foundation was strong, we added a few high-impact extras:

  • Mobile-first design: over 80% of traffic comes from phones—we built for that first

  • SEO-friendly structure: simple H1s, clean URLs, fast loading times

  • Analytics-ready: Google Analytics built in from day one for real performance tracking

Your Website Shouldn’t Hold You Back

Soap and the City didn’t need a fancy site. They needed a smart one. One that reflects their service, removes friction for customers, and helps the business grow.

That’s what we build at Studio Ecks.

If your current site feels like it’s just there, let’s talk.

We’ll show you how small changes can lead to big results.
